When we opened up our bakery in 2003 with really good bread for humans to enjoy, our German Shepard, Sirius, felt a little left out. As an integral part of our family, I quickly opened up a cookbook and found a sourdough-based dog treat (it doubles as a teething biscuit I've since found). She was pretty excited to get to "sit" by our oven as the first trials came out, and I've never seen eyes reflect such love as hers did when she tasted them warm.
Needless to say, the Sirius Dog Bones became a staple for her, and many other regulars who need to spoil their 4-legged friends.
These dog treats are made with a sourdough starter, wheat flour, cornmeal, wheat germ, canola oil, and sea salt. Rolled to 1/8" they are cut into the shape of dog bones. Expect to find 4-6 5" treats per package. Once opened, store in an airtight container.
