WHAT'S NEW! ABOUT US OUR METHODS THE BREAD OTHER STUFF FINDING US ON THE GO... OUR FAVORITE LINKS |
WHAT'S NEW late winter 2009 First we had ice, then we had snow, then we had water and now we have fog. Breadfarm is enjoying the first few months of the year and looking forward to the year to come. Our bakers are getting the hang of making and baking thousands of bread bowl for Mt Baker. On the sweeter side of things, our ancillary bakers are in heavy development of new offerings for 2009. Traditionally, this is the time for us to take a breath after the holidays, regroup after finishing the farmers markets for the year and make plan for what's to come. We still anticipate revamping our branding for all non-bread items we make and hope to begin wholesaling these shelf stable items to specialty grocers and retail venues on the west coast in the early part of the year. The shopping cart feature of our webpage is still in development, as is the testing of the 100% organic Baker White and Farmer Bread and the Blue Bird Grains whole grain wheat loaf. A few of us spent a day at the end of the year digging the last
of our organic Russet potatoes with Nate and Shannon from Frog's
Song Farm. It was December 30th, it was cold, the ground was
still frozen, there was snow still around. As Nate drove his
tiller down the rows and turned the soil, there were potatoes
rolling around in the sweet Fir Island soil like gold on the
Klondike. Geese were flying overhead, a thunderstorm rolled
past, we were dressed in full weather gear and dug a ton (literally)
of Russets for our Samish River Potato Loaf. A special thanks
to Brittany, Stacey, Uncle Steve and Adele for braving the elements
and partaking on this "adventure" with us, and of course for Frog's
Song Farm and all the other farmers out there who grow food. Espresso Shortbread $5/pk BREADFARM 'Chocolate Lovers' COOKIE BOXES $28 We are now off to Mexico, normally we would say we are looking forward to trying out really great bread and seeking out the finest bakeries in the area, but in fact, that would be a lie. We are planning on drinking some tequila, eating fresh fish and camarones and enjoying the beach. Adios!
