WHAT'S NEW Holiday 2009 Whew! We made it! Breadfarm is back up and running after a brief hiatus in early November when we installed a new oven. After an adventuresome road trip to Amador City, CA in late September to pick up our "new" oven, it has been successfully installed and is cranking out great bread just in time for the holidays. A special thanks to Tim and his crew from Baktek who came up from California. 5 days, over 2000 bolts, tons (literally) of scrap metal, insulation, et voila, Bonnie, as we have since named her, is up and running. We took the opportunity to give the front of the bakery a facelift, with new paint, a new office, and totally remodeled lobby. You'll find a beautiful wall mounted merchandise shelf made from recycled redwood that was crafted by James Reisen, a new floor made from reclaimed White Oak flooring we found at Skagit Salvage that was installed by Jack at Alpine Hardwoods, and a beautiful window seat and display system constructed by Cliff Leight of Mountain High Construction. Thanks to everyone for making this happen; and kudos to the Breadfarmers Jason, Caryn, Erik, Tommy, Rachael and Earthen for the long days you spent assisting this transition. We just wrapped up a successful season of peddling our wares at the Bellingham Farmers Market. While Breadfarm is done for the year, the market is still open Saturday's through December 19 from 10a-3. Bundle up and get out there to support our awesome local farmers and crafters! Mt Baker is open and snow is falling in the mountains. After you're up to your knees in powder, be sure to enjoy a bread bowl in the lodge made by your favorite bakers here in Edison. To Matt, Lori and all the staff at Mt Baker, thanks for supporting our bakery...rip it up! As the holiday are rapidly approaching, Breadfarm is geared up with an abundance of offerings for your holiday gathering. Stop in to see our assortment of tasty cookie boxes, taste the famed Ginger Raisin Bread, pick up a loaf of Pan D'Oro, some Edison Fruitcake, Ginger Spice Cakes with Chocolate Ganache, Mint Sandwich Cookies, Shortbread Stars or beautiful paper lanterns for your gift giving (or eating) pleasures.
In the event that you live nearby and are looking for a great "experience" to give this holiday season, consider joining META, our local theater group in Skagit Valley. Breadfarm just became a corporate sponsor of META. Adele Clark, my cousin, led the show with a stunning performance as Pippi Longstocking. Congrads Adele and the entire cast and crew of Pippi! We can't wait until your next play! Breadfarm is also pleased to be partnered with the following
organizations whom are doing active outreach to those in need: During this season of thanksgiving, we are fortunate to have such great staff and such great customers. Whether your support us at in Edison, at the farmers markets, at your local grocer or in your favorite restaurant, we are humbly reminded that we would not be here without you! Season's greetings!
