WHAT'S NEW
November 2009

ATTENTION CUSTOMERS!!!!

Breadfarm will be CLOSED to install our new oven November 1-5, 2009!

After 2310 days in nightly baking operation, we are retiring our beloved Bongard oven.  Scott and I took a road trip to California in late September to pick up our new oven, we purchased from Matt and Kimberly Andrae of Andrae's Bakery in Armador City.  Thank you Matt and Kim for the fun evening of boot scootin' at that cool winery.

While packing up the oven in our rented 26' Penske truck, we enjoyed meeting fellow bakers and tasting our way home and except for when the freeway was rutted up, our ride was seamless and adventursome.  Since then, the oven has been under wraps in the back of our bakery awaiting the transition.  Tomorrow it all happens.  Amidst the oven installation, we will be spending the 5 days revamping our office and lobby, painting, deep cleaning the bakery and refinishing our floors.  A huge shout out to Jason, our office and operations manager for assisting with this time and making it as smooth for our wholesale customers as possible.  We'll look forward to seeing you, with fresh bread again on November 6.

Just in time for harvest season, our Pumpkin Harvest Bread is available at our shop and farmers market now through Thanksgiving.  A whole wheat and rye loaf, with locally ground cornmeal, fresh roasted squash from Donna Flora and Frog's Song Farm.  Perfect for grilled cheese or a warm fall soup, this loaf is topped with a sprinkling of coarse salt and toasted pumpkin seeds.

Caryn, Captain, Ariane and I spent a fun filled weekend in Portland learning about the basics of laminated dough through a class on Viennoiserie.  The class was fun, but more fun was exploring Powell's, finding fun food stops and touring and tasting our way through the numerous artisan bakeries.

Stuffing is now available.  Pick some up at our shop, the farmers market for a great turkey accompaniment, also available at the following retail outlets...Rexville Foods Galore, The Market in Anacortes, Terra Organica, Community Food Coop, Orcas Homegrown Market, Blossom on Lopez, Anderson's General Store, Skagit River Produce and the Skagit Valley Food Coop. Gobble, gobble, gobble.

Remember to visit us at the Bellingham Farmers Market Saturday's 10a-3p thru November 21st.

A welcome to Amelia Robbins, who was born on October 3.  The daughter of Stacey, one of our ancillary bakers, Amelia is the newest member in our Breadfarm family.  Also welcome to Earthen, and Jason, who have recently joined our team of bread shapers and cookie makers.  Bon voyage Ariane.
