WHAT'S NEW! ABOUT US OUR METHODS THE BREAD OTHER STUFF FINDING US ON THE GO... OUR FAVORITE LINKS A day in the life of Breadfarm |
WHAT'S NEW November 2008 Fall has arrived. We have a new president. Yes we can! Scott, Caryn and Rachael just took the last class in the series offered by the Bread Bakers Guild of America featuring Women Bakers. Leslie Mackie of Macrina hosted the event in Seattle and the feature was on Flatbreads. They toured some of our favorite bakeries, Tall Grass, Bakery Nouveau, Columbia City and Macrina and came home with lots of tasty goodies as well as some inspiration from what they had learned and seen in the city! YEAH FOR WOMEN BAKERS! Breadfarm is now are making our Pumpkin Harvest Loaf for fall. It's a tasty loaf of wheat bread with fresh roasted Frog's Song Farms squash and pumpkin and a touch of black pepper. Topped with a sprinking of coarse salt and toasted pepitas, mmmm.....We will have this bread on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through early December. Lots of people have been asking about the flour prices and if we have any plans to return to organic wheat. We are currently researching our options for Organic flour and are playing with the concept of using all organic flour in a selected group of core offerings. This would mean a price increase for those products made with all organic flour so we are looking at our options for which items would switch. We are still participating in the Bellingham Farmers Markets on Saturday's and having record sales. Please stop by to visit us on Saturday's from 10a-3p outside on the pavilion courtyard through the end of November. In development....We are still working out the kinks on the 100% Whole Wheat Bread that Scott and Caryn have been toying with for the last several months. After visiting Blue Bird Grains, in the Methow Valley earlier this fall, we came home eager to use their grains and are proud to create a loaf around such a high quality ingredient. Also doesn't a chocolate espresso cookie sound so good? We think so too. Hopefully it will come to light at some point in the future and you can try one too. Other News Hey! The hottest seller on the block are the Chewy Ginger Chocolate Cookies. We also are doing a limited run on Apple Spice Cookies for fall, loaded with dried apples, ginger and spices. These go well with afternoon tea. In lights of the recent election we have a newly released t-shirt that will one day have famed status! Get them while they are hot and be the first on your block to sport a BREAD WE CAN BELIEVE IN tee. Available for a limited time at the bakery for $15 smackers. O-Breadfarm. Thanks to all for supporting your local, artisan bakery. Here's to
the holidays ready or not!
